Health Canada typically takes 8-10 weeks in processing completed applications. This includes new applications, renewals and amendments.
The Health Canada Medical Marihuana Access Regulations Program has been available since August of 2001.
Under the current rules, after having a doctor sign your forms you must chose how you wish to obtain your medical marijuana. You may choose to purchase dried medical marijuana from Health Canada directly. You may currently choose to grow your own medical marijuana. Or you may choose to assign someone to grow it for you.
After Health Canada reviews and accepts your application you will have one year until a renewal is required. Health Canada suggests having your renewal submitted two months prior to the expiry date of the prescription.
Smoking, vaporizing, eating the raw bud and edibles of any sort (cookies, baked goods, meals etc.) are all legal under the Program.
Health Canada advises not to drive while under the influence of marijuana.

Depending upon how quickly you are able to provide us with your two passport photos and arrange to have your medical records transferred to our doctor, it takes anywhere from one to two weeks to consult with our doctor after registering and paying for your appointment.
